J. Ernest "Sunny" Breeding, Jr., PHD
There are some really fascinating and beautiful places on our planet, and J. Ernest “Sunny” Breeding, Jr. has been to quite a few of them; he has traveled to all continents but Antarctica. Breeding is a travel consultant and travel photographer. He and his wife, Rebecca, are the owners of World Class Travel & Tours, which they started in 1994. “Through travel it is possible to learn about interesting peoples and their cultures,” says Breeding. “It broadens your mind to see how other peoples live, and you are often amazed to discover how advanced civilizations were thousands of years ago.”
Breeding got into the travel business after successful careers in other fields. He earned a Ph.D in geophysics at Columbia University, and has worked as a research physicist at several US Navy laboratories. Locally he worked at the Naval Research Laboratory at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Breeding was also an associate professor at both Florida State University in Tallahassee and the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Says Breeding, “I taught mostly advanced courses in geophysics, physical oceanography, and applied mathematics.” Based on his research he has published a number of articles and reports. For his work Breeding has earned recognition in American Men and Women of Science, and he is included in four different volumes of Marquis Who’s Who, including Who’s Who in the World.
With a highly trained scientific mind Breeding says “I plan trips in a very logical way and pay close attention to detail to make sure that everything in the itinerary fits together.”
In addition to traveling to new destinations each year to learn about them, Breeding also attends at least one major travel conference each year. “This is essential,” says Breeding, “to find out about the latest trends in travel and to personally interview tour operators and other travel providers.” It is also important to network with other travel consultants, and World Class Travel & Tours is a proud member of Vacation.com, which is North America's Largest Vacation Selling Network.
Breeding is a web master, and he has built a very large web site for his clients to use in planning travel. There are links to an abundance of travel information, but the most popular web pages are the ones containing his personal reviews with pictures of trips that he has taken. “One reason that I got into the travel business,” remarked Breeding, “is that I wanted to be a travel photographer.” Many of his best pictures along with descriptions of destinations are presented to groups.
